How we survived and ice storm

OK first things first a big shout out to Hubby Jack and the magic he worked on my blog design! I love it!!!

Being a weather person is the only job where you can be wrong 95% of the time and still be employed.....

They started calling for it on Thursday an ice storm that is.... and if your from where I'm from we usually throw all weather warnings to the wind and think nothing will happen. Buffalo is know for it's crazy weather. However since 2006 anytime they use the word ice I panic. If you don't know what I'm talking about here is link of what went down that year.

I still lived at home and my parents live about 5 miles from Lake Ontario. So for the most part they are in a bubble. However we lost power for 2 days and had the most insane weather. I was at work when it hit and it was crazy to drive in. It was sunny when I left for work so I only had on a fleece jacket and it was a blizzard when I left so I had to buy a coat and gloves just to be able to walk out of the store.

Anyway back to 2013......

I woke up Saturday at 2:30 in the morning to complete silence. I instantly knew we had no power because normally all I hear is Grayson's monitor and music and our fan going (my husband insists that he cannot sleep without it). I waited until 3 to call the power company and report my outage. About 3:15 I heard the loudest noise ever. I thought a tree had hit the house and had Michael go around and check all the rooms and windows. He said he saw the sky light up so it must have been a transformer. It is like 25 degrees at this point. We waited until about 4 and then scooped G out of his crib and bring him into bed with us

We figured with no heat it would get cold fast. We decided to sleep and then decided what to do in the morning. Let me just say I had a hard time falling asleep with Grayson snoring in my ear...

We got up at 7 checked the website and it said "still assessing damage no estimated time" I instantly called my parents to see if they had power. Thank God they did so we packed up and headed over there.

Can I just tell you how hard it is to pack up everything for the day (we were celebrating Christmas with my brother there that day) for you whole family that includes a 9 month old and all the food I had to make for the party. Oh yeah throw in the fact they it's still pitch black out it took me almost an hour!!!!

We called my uncle who lives around the corner (and had power) to come and  check on Riley.

We found out around noon that they thought we would not get power until Monday so we started to make plans to stay the night
Around 5:30 my uncle called and said we had power!!!

Thankfully we went less than 24 hours without power and my parents never lost it but others were not so fortunate. Some families had flooding in their basements and no power so they had to be evacuated by the fire department. There were also people without power for days. My work was one of them. When I showed up to work on Monday we had no power. Thankfully I have a laptop as my work computer and could work from home.

We had a few trees down in our yard and saw some of the worst flooding on our drive over to my parents house.

Up next The Rash Part 2

The Rash-Part 1

I love being a Momma to my nugget but no one told me that sometimes it is shitty to be a parent..... Yes I said shitty because that's the truth

Since December 9th I have been to the doctor 6 times and we have his well check up on Monday so that is 7 times in one month!!!!

He got the flu so I took him in to make sure he was not dehydrated. Then we had his ENT appointment. Then he had pink gunky eyes so back to the doctor we went on Friday (and those 3 were all within a week). They put him on amoxicillin and said that he had an ear infection and that would take care of his pink eye too.

By the next Thursday his eyes were glassy and his nose was so stuffed he could no breath out of it.

James who is my favorite at the office said that Grayson may have an immunity to amoxicillin so we tried a different antibiotic.

Here is where the rash comes in.

He got a dose on Thursday and Friday along with eye drops for the pink eye.

Saturday morning I woke up to a different baby. He was super needy and just clingy all day. He slept until 8:30 which my kid never does. Around 11 I was changing his diaper and I noticed it. I red dot rash all over his feet. so I freaked and thought oh no hand, food and mouth. I checked his hands and they were clear so then I looked at his back and stomach and it was covered in red bumps too. I called the on-call doctor and they said to stop the antibiotic immediately and to give him baby benadryl. I got him down for a nap around 11:30 and he slept until 3!!! 3 1/2 hours never happens at my house. He woke up a little bit better but the rash was still there. We had some running around to do so we took him with us because he seemed fine, we were under a storm warning so we wanted to go and get it done and over with just in case something happened.

Let me say that if you tell a parent BABY benadryl they will go to 3 stores looking for BABY benadryl. After the third store and nothing I asked a pharmacist and they informed me there is no such thing and that I would have to give him children's. Fun fact they had children's at all 3 stores I was at.

We got nugget love home and gave him a dose of benadryl and prayed that he would sleep through the night, because the needy monster was back in full force.

He did but we didn't more on that in How we survived an ice storm.

Friday 5

Since it's the last Friday 5 of 2013 I'm going to post the top 5 moments of 2013

 photo db7528c5-a5c8-4eb0-9519-22997b018248_zps7d56832d.jpg

1- We became parents when this nugget love came into the world at a whoppng 10 pounds 4 ounces 21 inches long. Our lives were changed forever on March 19 and it's been the most amazing rollercoaster with this little boy

2- We celebrated 4 years of marriage. I love this man more than words can say. He drives me crazy but loves me despite my bat shit crazy ways so he's for sure a keeper.

3- We got a pool!!!! I'm also way excited to use it this summer. I have a feeling G will live in it!!

4- We remeber my Grandma the only way she would want to be remember by having Gramstock. It was a blast and we are looking forward to Gramstock 2014

5-Our first Holidays with Grayson Michael. It changes everything when you have a little one to celebrate it with. I love it and I love getting to dress him up!!!

Happy Friday everyone!!!!

Where I have been

Let's just say the shit hit the fan on Saturday and it just kept on coming....

I will update on all of it within the next week but first lets talk about how amazing Christmas was with my little nugget love.

I know at 9 months that he does not understand it all but he opened up every present.... and it just made my heart over flow with love watching my husband with him opening presents.

My boys are my everything and it was the best gift having my little family together on Christmas morning.

Coming up with in the week

The Rash- Part 1

The Rash- Part 2

How we Survived the Ice Storm

Our First Christmas

Grayson meets Santa

And in breaking news I'm in the middle of giving all my info to Hubby Jack so he can take over and class up this hot mess of a blog!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that as the wrapping paper is getting cleaned up everyone hugs their loved ones as tight as they can and be thankful to have one another.

5 on Friday Christmas Edition

 photo db7528c5-a5c8-4eb0-9519-22997b018248_zps7d56832d.jpg

1- Ok I already lied one is not Christmas related but I just have to point out the fact that I have a 9 month old!!!! Where this past year has gone I will never know!

2- This Sweater

Mossimo® Womens Ultrasoft Cocoon Cardigan - Assorted Colors

I love this green color, I bought this to wear to Christmas eve, and bonus they had 25% off at my store!

3-This Ornament

Baby's First Christmas

My Aunt gets the kids ornaments every year and this is G's first Christmas so she got him this one! My Uncle is a painter so he wrote Grayson on the bottom of the rocking horse and I just love it!!! I show it to him every night on the tree.

4- This plate

LivingQuarters Merry & Bright Santa Platter

I grabbed this little gem when I was out black Friday shopping like a mad woman. I love it and am so excited to put cookies out for Santa this year!!!

5- The fact that we are celebrating Grayson's first Christmas and I have two whole days off with my little family!

Now for some non- Christmas stuff. Grayson ended up at the doctor's again last night. He has pink eye in both eyes and a sinus infection. Ugh so we switched his antibiotic and he now has drops. Praying that he is in tip top shape for his first Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

9 Months

Hi Bubbie lou! To say that your amazing is an understatement. I love you so much and so hard it's crazy. Sometimes your daddy and I lay in bed at night and just look at each other and say "can you believe how amazing he is gosh I just love him".
This month you taught us that we have  had a lot of unsafe things in your reach. Since you full on crawl now and it is amazing to watch but also cramps my style because I can't leave you in a room alone anymore. Your two bottom teeth are in and they look so cute. The top two are rearing their ugly heads and you are chewing everything. We had your doctors appointment about your adenoids and they said you are all good. Thank goodness because momma was thinking about going to a mental hospital if you had to have surgery. You got the flu and a double ear infection this month. We went to the doctors twice in one week and momma had to go by herself which almost killed her. You like to look at everything upside down when I'm holding you and that is challenge when your 22 pounds and wearing a huge winter coat. I made it through and promised your dad that I would never divorce him for the sole fact that I'm not cut out to be a single parent.
Eating is really up in the air. You get 3 bottles 2-8oz and 1-6oz, but now you sometimes refuse them ( I blame teething). You always eat them an hour or so later so I try not to worry about them. You seem to be slowing down in the meal department also, you will either eat all your yogurt and half of the dinner, or vice versa. Or some days all of it. Again I'm saying it the top two teeth. You love puffs but still will not put them in your own mouth. I know you can I spy ed on you one time and saw you do it but if someone is in front of you, you demand (through grunting) that one gets put in your mouth.
Your a dare devil through and through, I blame this on your father. You pull up on everything and now are side walking down the couch and your crib. You also have started going one handed and I almost shit my pants every time. I know that in the blink of an eye you will be walking and talking and driving a car and asking me for my keys so I try so so hard to hold onto this baby stage because I'm so in love with it.
You love the Christmas tree and to say that we are excited for your 1st Christmas is an understatement. You opened you first gift the other day (from your dada's work party that we couldn't go to because you had the shits). Once you realized that there was a toy in there you tore that shit up! It was awesome and now I'm beyond excited for the big day! It pains me to write this but Dada is your #1. It's cool though because I love that bond that you two have. Now you never cry when I have you and when it's bedtime you favor me (and I gloat about this to your father every chance I get) but for real that man is your best friend. Now Grayson I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Daddy never though he would be a daddy EVER. But you are so blessed that he is yours. He loves you with all of his heart and takes the best care of you. When you grow up be like him, love like him, and most of all let him be your role model. I know he will always be your best bud, but can you remember to love me too? I mean I did grow you!
Grayson baby you grow everyday and I love it. You change every second and you steal my heart a little bit more everyday. Your gorgeous with your green eyes and sandy colored hair that is darker some days than others but baby your smile is where it's at.
I love you with my whole heart more and more everyday. Thanks for making me Momma.
Love your Momma.

5 Seconds after this picture you ripped off your sock and started laughing
You and your fur brother

Your first Thanksgiving and I'm loving your big beer belly

You love the tree

This is what I get when I ask you for a picture

Momma dies over this smile

You were sick and it broke my heart but I secretly loved the snuggles
The picture I wanted on the Christmas card but got over ruled
You got mail from Gigi and Papa Tom

Your not too sure about the whole mittens thing

You fell asleep in the car like this the whole way home

Decked out in your Christmas shirt

Standing like a boss

This is the look I get when I ask you what your doing, you already have the innocent look down.

So What

Life After I Dew

Let's say so what......

That I decided last minute to take off Christmas eve. Michael has off and I just want an extra day with my boys

That my mom called and asked to have G overnight from the 23rd to the 24th and I jumped on it. We have friends in town and I'm excited to go out and have a few drinks without anyone having to work the next day! and no baby to wake up at the ass crack of dawn

I have yet to wrap a single present

I ordered our stockings but they have not come yet....So that means they will be up for a few days and then packed a way

I have been eating at least 2 cookies a day everyday since Saturday

the only long sleeve shirt that I could find for Grayson to wear under is jimmy jams was a thanksgiving one so that what he wore

I hate the weather lately and have no desire to do anything but stay in my comfy clothes all day and snuggle my baby

I'm just going to jump right in because I have no rhyme or reason to this post.....Hey it's Monday and I'm still in weekend mode

Grayson has a double ear infection, after just going to the ENT Tuesday and getting a perfect bill of health he gets sick. Kids are just bat shit crazy like that

I baked over 20 dozen cookies this weekend. And on Saturday I only ate cookies all day. Talk about a balanced diet.

Trying to take a picture of an 8 year old, a 2 year old, and an 8 month old all together and have them looking at the camera is a big fail. We got one good picture out of about 150 but I call that a success.

It snowed so much this weekend. It started Friday and did not stop until Sunday morning and then continued to snow off and on.

I like an idiot traveled on Saturday. We had plans and I refused to just stay home so I picked up the kids and then we went to my mom's to do the cookie exchange. Driving home was a nightmare. What normally takes me 10 mins. took me 45 mins. It was crazy. That one day of traveling was enough and I cancelled our plans to go shopping on Sunday because the roads were still horrible

Grayson and I stayed in our pj's all day long on Sunday and I liked it that way. My poor husband had to work super long and did not get home until 5:30. He leaves our house at 4:00 in the morning so that is a long day. And he was out in the cold so we just relaxed and finished our shopping on-line.

Our week is busy and so is our weekend and we do not have a free night until after Christmas. Southern Comfort will be my best friends these next few weeks.

Have a happy Monday!!!

My Friday 5

Let's get down to business and lay down the five things for the week

 photo db7528c5-a5c8-4eb0-9519-22997b018248_zps7d56832d.jpg

1. My nails that were done a week ago and still amazeballs! Other than the fact that they are growing out. I'm obsessed and can't wait to change up the color next week when I go back!

2. Swiss Miss

Product Details

So I'm a freak and love hot chocolate and must drink it while putting ornaments on the tree. I have come up with the perfect hot chocolate concoction ever and now my husband it addicted. This was born out of pure necessity because no matter what you always burn some part of yourself on hot chocolate and then curse like a sailor on leave. It is one packet of Swiss Miss Rich Chocolate mixed with hot water. Then once it is good and mixed up pour in some french vanilla coffee creamer. It cools down your drink and gives it a fancy ionlybuymycoffeefromstarbucksandmyshitdon'tstink feeling. Your welcome.

3. Christmas Book

Product Details

Grayson loves when I read to him because lets be real I have an amazing reading voice. Also he likes to try and eat the book but I'm holding onto the first one. Anyway I scooped this up as soon as I saw it because I love the Mercer Mayer books and I like having holiday books. It's my feeble attempt to be like the cool blog moms when really I'm a hot mess.

4. Slippers

Product Details

If my husband is reading this (which really fat chance) I would love these. OMG!!!! I wonder if they really work but they seem good in theory and I have all hard wood floors and/or tile downstairs. The small OCD person in my head is jumping with both fists in the air!

5. Tart Warmer

Girls I'm a total BBW fan but they don't have tarts and with a baby that thinks he is spider man and can climb anything I kind of want something without a flame. I just ordered this tart warmer from Yankee Candle and can't wait to get it! I also ordered 8 tarts. I had a coupon because I'm cheap so I got it all for $28.00 shipped. Coupon code is FS79 and it is good for $15.00 off of $35.00. Plus if you order today it will get here buy Christmas with the standard shipping which is only $5.00!

Happy Friday everyone!!! And 10 shopping days until Christmas!!!!

Finish the sentence

Linking up with Big Holly for finish the sentence........

1. My favorite Christmas was.... any before I was 21 and didn't have a hangover from Christmas Eve

2. The worst Christmas I had...any after I was 21 and had the worst hangovers

3. That one gift that made me scratch my head and say, "Hmmmm" was... When my Aunt gave my husband and I a wooden plaque with our faces wood burned into it. It was awkward and since I may have still been drunk from the previous night I asked her if she bought it for charity and she said no she made it so I just smiled and kept drinking my beermosa

4. One year I....hid a plate of my mom's pizza bread in the trunk so that when I was drunk on the way home I had something to eat #drunkiethinksahead let me just say it was delicious

5. I think the worst gift to give is....A wooden plaque with your face wood burned in it A coupon book. Your not really giving me a gift because this will get kicked under the seat in my car until next December and it will go to waste. Just give me the $25.00
6. At Christmastime I typically....Drink until I love everyone in my family

7. Typically, family Christmas....Involves LRC (left right center) Dollar bills and copious amounts of Southern Comfort, also my my mom picking up wrapping paper after every gift is opened she cannot handle it being on her floor her saying "wrapping paper over here!" is on repeat that day. I purposely throw it in the opposite direction while staring her in the eye because the toddler in me likes to come out.
8. If I could change one thing about the Holiday season.... I would make it mandatory that everyone got two weeks off of work because it's just crazy to expect me to focus when I have other more important things duh! The week before Christmas and the week after works for me.

9. It is so hard to buy for....someone who does not drink (aka my mother-in-law)
10. My favorite Christmas tradition is... drinking Being with my family and stockings filled with chocolate, I love chocolate the night after pickling my liver
11. Santa, baby, bring me a .... a child who sleeps through the night and does not shit on me ever but don't change the package because my kid is cute.

Candy, Candy canes, Candy corns & Syrup

It's Christmas time and Elf seems to be on some channel every time I turn on the TV so these things stick in my head hence the blog title.

Anyway first things first
We had the big appointment yesterday to see if my baby needed surgery and he does NOT need it. I'm so happy. I was dreading him having to have surgery but if it would help him I would have had to put my big girl panties on. However after they looked at him they said he is perfect and that surgery would be UN-necessary at this time. I was so happy.
Now let's just hope that his breathing and stuffy nose stays away!

Ok so onto the wedding that I attended solo on Saturday. I hated leaving my sick baby but he was home with my husband and we had already RSVP'd that we would be there so I felt that one was better than none. Any who I had a blast with my family. When we hear open bar we drink like it's going out of style. I'm going to bullet point this because otherwise it will be hard to read
  • I didn't go to the wedding but I heard it was long (over an hour). They had nine people in the wedding party which to me is a little much (no offense to those that have that many)
  • The table names were poets which to me was confusing because there was no rhyme or reason so you had to look at almost every table to find yours plus to find your place card it was book mark on a tree and it was just a hot mess. It took us over half an hour to find my sisters.
  • The guest book was ornaments that you had to sign with a pen. This was weird to me so I just drew a heart and signed our names.
  • Dinner was not served until almost 8 at night. The bar opened at 6 so by the time dinner started I was 3/4 in the bag and feeling like I was Brittney Spears. I was ready to dance to dance with snake and make out with Madonna.
  • They cut the cake during dinner service so hardly anyone saw it happen. They didn't do the garter toss until half an hour before the end these are huge things people should be watching!!
  • The DJ only played for a little over 2 hours, because the reception ended at 11!!!! So once dinner was done the time was limited.
  • Yes I drank my weight and my husband weight and a couple other people's in Southern Comfort and ginger ale. It was like heaven in a glass and the waiters just stood by our table because we kept having so many empty glasses.
And now the pictures that were taken once drinks were consumed, and no I don't have any of the bride and groom (the groom is my step-cousin so I don't rank high on the list of people to talk to at the wedding, it's all good I had fun with my group)

My Uncle, My cousin (who we call red) My little sister and ME!

Me and My Uncle Mark

Me and Red

Heaven in a glass
Bathroom selfie that was taken before dinner was served and I was feeling warm
Yes I had 3 drinks at once and no I'm not ashamed!

Short and sweet

Today's post will be short and sweet

The boys are feeling better and knock on wood I have escaped without the curse.

We have Grayson's ENT appointment today to see if he needs his adenoids removed.

They are calling for us to get a snow consistently for the next seven days so that should be about as fun a punch in the face

I have had to leave work early the last 2 days and it sucks and my paycheck will suffer but my boys come first and thank goodness my boss feels the same way

Michael's car has no heat and I had to drive it today. To say that I was cursing into work was an understatement ( for the record I drove it because the company I work for also owns a repair shop and we get a 20% discount so I brought it in to get looked at)

Until tomorrow where I will have a post about the wedding and an update on the nugget and his doctors appointment.

Smilings my favorite

I had a whole post I wanted to write about my awesome weekend and then it happened..........

I swear that kids know when parents are going to do something fun without them and they are going to spend the night somewhere new.
Let me back up

Friday I got out of work and got my nails done....let's just say I have already made an appointment to get them done again right before Christmas because this girl is in love. They use a brand called Shelac Gel and it is amazing. Plus with Gel nails they are dry the second you take them out of the UV and they don't damage your nails.

Anyway I left the nail salon, ran to the grocery store for some ginger ale and chip ya know the necessities and then stopped by subway to grab dinner. Let me just say that on the back of my grocery store receipt they have buy one get one free sub so the cheap ass in me was like dinner for under $10.00 yup that's what we are eating. So I call Michael and say that I'm heading home and he was weird on the phone I find out that Grayson would not eat his yogurt for dinner and then threw up. I figured maybe he was just full. Then just as I was pulling in the driveway he had a blow out diaper. I was hoping it was fluke, he seemed fine was still crawling and climbing on everything. Then I fed him his nighttime bottle and he threw up the better part of it. I mean he covered our chair with throw up. My poor baby I got him to sleep and he slept until 5:30 the next morning

Saturday I made the call that he would not be going to my brother's because I didn't want him to get the kids sick and that Michael would stay home with him and I would go to the wedding solo. Grayson has 3 more blow out diapers before I left on Saturday and one during the night

Sunday he was off and not himself. Then the worst happened......Michael got it. He came home from work early and was camped out in the bathroom. Now let me just say men are the worst when they are sick. He kept calling for me and I was all what do you want me to do?

I called the doctor first thing this morning and they told us to stop all fruit and start giving G pedialite. So my dad is being a doll and getting it and taking it over to my sister who is staying with Grayson while I'm at work. Thank God for my family because other wise I would be lost. I'm knocking on wood that I'm not next and just praying that it passes soon.

Grayson got two bath yesterday and 4 different outfits. I had to scrub the bathtub 4 times and I lysoled my entire house 952159 times. So much so that I need to buy more Lysol today. We missed the hubby's Christmas party yesterday and now my stomach hurts.
Happy Monday

5 on Friday

It's time to link up for 5 on Friday

 photo db7528c5-a5c8-4eb0-9519-22997b018248_zps7d56832d.jpg

1- This candle from Bath & Body Works.

Fresh Balsam 14.5 oz. 3-Wick Candle - Slatkin & Co. - Bath & Body Works

We don't have a real tree because one year when I was younger we had a real tree and when we bought it in the house a mouse ran out of it and now I have an irrational fear that a real tree comes with some odd critter living it. This candle gives me the smell of a tree without a creature coming into my house. I love it and buy one every year!

2- This hand soap from BBW! I also buy the lotion and body wash because yum it smells so good.

Winter Candy Apple Deep Cleansing Hand Soap - Anti-Bacterial - Bath & Body Works
3- These Jimmy Jams for Grayson. There is something that is so festive about a nugget in Christmas PJ's. ( I won't even tell you what my husband said about these PJ's and Santa)
JUST ONE YOU® Made by Carter's Infant Toddler Boys' 2-Piece Long-Sleeve Santa Pajama Set

4- I'm getting my nails did today. I'm going with a gel manicure and I'm beyond excited. We have a wedding and a Christmas party this weekend so it will take one thing off my plate because G is going for an over night and I have to pack my entire house up for him tonight

5-The fact that Michael and I got an iPad for Christmas. We decided that since Grayson was born we would scale back on Christmas with each other and really focus on each other's birthday's instead. We set a $100.00 budget a piece and I scored an iPad mini for $199.99 on black friday. We also get each other a small $25.00 gift for each other from Grayson.

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Christmas Traditions

Linking up with Holly today for the Christmas Traditions

We always watch It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve. We also throw the classics in like Rudolph, Frosty, and Christmas Vacation. I also by myself watch The Family Stone. It's sad but wonderful at the same time. I cry every time and I have seen it like 95232195 times.

Christmas Eve
We go to my Aunt and Uncles house on Christmas Eve. Pre- Grayson this was a drink fest. We would play Left Right Center (and make it a drinking game) with dolla bills. One year Michael and I both won and we walked out of there with $120.00. We have dinner and do a gift exchange where everyone brings a $25.00 gift and you draw numbers. #1 picks and then #2 can steal or pick a new gift. It was always a lot of booze and lottery tickets. It took us 2 hours one year because we had over 25 people. Then we drink our faces off and my mom drives us to my sister-in-law's parents house where we drink beer like it's going out of style and then she drives us home. Last year I was knocked up (which meant I was the DD boo) and this year we have Grayson so only one of us will be able to hop on the booze cruise we will take it to a vote and since I carried the baby I get two votes and I vote me!
Our new tradition we are starting since it's G's first Christmas is that we will open a present of new Christmas jimmy jams and a book and/or movie. This was my husband's idea and I love it!

Christmas Day
We will be waking up and first thing we do is throw up brew coffee and pre-heat the oven for cinnamon rolls. Then we open gifts, while listening to Christmas music. I'm beyond excited to open gifts with Grayson for his first Christmas!!! I'm that weird mom and we have matchy jimmy jams. Then we eat our cinnamon rolls and pack up for my parents house. Once we get there we pop the champagne and have mimosa's open gifts by age which means Grayson goes first. My sister comes and my grandma and aunt and uncle. It's nice and low key. Then we get ready and make the most fantastic brunch ever. After that we head home nap and get ready for Michael's parents to come over for a steak dinner. We open gifts with them then eat and by that point I'm ready to pass out.

Random things we do
We always to a cookie day exchange. We each make 2 kinds cookies, my Aunt does the cut-out and frosting and we get together with the kids and decorate the cutouts and then we each go home with about 7 different kinds of cookies.
We always listen to the Disney 12 days of Christmas CD when we decorate the tree. And on Christmas morning at my parents we always listen to the classics's like Bing.
I always wear matching jimmy jams with someone. Before I was married I matched with my sister and now Michael and I match. I have done this since my sister was born and I love having new jams on Christmas.
A new random thing we are doing for Grayson this year is a Happy Birthday Jesus birthday cake.
We always do stockings first when we open presents. Everyone gets a stocking and it has the most random things in it. Like one year I got a brick of mozzarella cheese (and I ate it all that day yummy!).

Other Christmas's
Ok so since we have such a big family to cut down on travel the day of Christmas we have Christmas with my brother and his kids the Sunday before Christmas. We hire a Santa Clause! We just order food in so that no one has to cook and we eat our faces off. Then we open gifts with them and we get more quality time with the kids as opposed to an hour because they have like 5 stops to make. This year we are also doing Christmas with my father-in-law's side of the family the Saturday before Christmas. We have not been able to go for Christmas since the first year we were married because normally they do it on a day Michael has to work but this year it worked out. I'm excited to see everyone and his cousin has a baby a couple months younger than G so I'm going to snuggle on that baby because she is not mobile yet and will still let me.

SO WHAT Wednesday

Linking up with Shannon for So What! Wednesday

Life After I Dew

So What........

If last night we had our Tuesday night dinner and I had a few (3) Southern Comfort and ginger ale's in a tall glass. Momma needed a drink

If because of said drinks I went to Tim Horton's this morning and got a Pepsi. I felt like I was 21 again and needed a bacon breakfast sandwich and a fountain soda. I skipped the sandwich this time because now they go right to my thighs instead of my hangover

Grayson now stands in his crib and screams until we come into get him in the morning I'm praying this is just a phase I'm also hoping that getting up at 5am is part of this phase and that is passes sooner rather than later

That I have to go to the grocery store again today because I forgot my formula coupons at home yesterday

That we will probably have cereal for dinner because I'm so exhausted I can't think about cooking a real meal

I already told my husband that as soon as Grayson goes to bed tonight so am I because we have been up until 11 the past two night and momma don't play good on little sleep

I haven't put any of the laundry away from the weekend and we are living out of baskets

I have set my tree up but not put an ornaments on it. I'm hoping we get this done tonight

Christmas Cards!!!

It's December which means it's officially a winter wonderland at my house
I ordered our cards in October because I have control issues. It took me 3 hours to look through every card that Minted had to offer. See you can order your cards and pay for them and then upload your picture later. I narrowed it down to 4. I then spent another hour flipping back and forth playing with fonts until I landed on this one.

Bright and Chalky

I went through the envelope options because my OCD cares about things like that. I chose the kraft paper envelopes because I like them and therefore they are best.

I then crapped my pants because now I need! a! picture! and it has to be perfect. I decided that getting a picture of him before Halloween would be crazy so I put it off until a few weekends ago. I had this hat and decided on a simple outfit and to let his leg rolls hang out because this is the only time in life where having tree trunks for thighs is acceptable. I found an antique kids rocking chair at a craft show in early November and knew that I wanted to use it. I also grabbed some of my Christmas decor, a white blanket and had my sister come over to help me because well if I didn't it would have ended in me crying.

So she came, we conquered, and I got some really good shots. I took over 100 pictures. It came down to two. One that I loved and one that my husband loved. Truth be told I loved them both because have you seen my kid he is gorgeous. So we took it to a vote.I showed my family the picture at Sunday dinner and we were split so I sent it to my aunt and she chose the one Michael liked. So that it what we went with. And here it is the final product.

I love it and his cankles. It took me another almost 2 hours to get the font for our names right, and the picture zoomed just right, and the font on the envelopes to be perfect. ( I know! I have issues!). I finally placed my order on a Monday and then received my proof to approve the same day. I approved it and had my cards by Friday. When I opened them I almost cried. They are printed on a heavy card stock, not shinny photo paper, and they just truly capture my little man's personality and wild spirit! My Dad's first comment was that he wasn't wearing pants and then my husband gave me the stink eye but I told him that next year he can do the cards and then he told me I'm perfect.

I mailed these out the day after Thanksgiving because I want people to be able to enjoy them the whole Christmas season! I asked Michael to pick up Christmas stamps, but not the kid ones I wanted rustic ones, like poinsettia's. So he comes home with poinsettia's. I asked him what other ones they had he says "like 800 but I didn't want to get the wrong ones so I remembered poinsettia's and that's what I got". So he did follow instructions but it took everything I had not to go to the post office and look at my options. I like everything to go with  my theme and they look good on my envelopes to I put my crazy on the shelf and kept them.

I recommend Minted 100% and I'm not getting paid to say that. I just love the cards and the process and that you can upload a picture later. Plus I got a hand written note from the lady that packed up my box and even though she spelled my name wrong (and then I quickly checked the cards because die!) it was a nice touch.

Thanksgiving wrap up

It was a glorious 4 days off of work! I even snuck out an hour early on Wednesday so I could kiss on my chunky nugget called Grayson. He went for an overnight with Gigi so that the hubs and I could get in a date night. It was wonderful and simple and everything we needed. Dinner and a movie at home with ice cream and popcorn sign me up!

Thursday we really just relaxed had breakfast, started pulling out the christmas decorations, and then headed to my parents and scoop up our baby boy because we missed him like crazy ( We even talked about going to pick him up several times because we just love having him with us.)

I went out shopping. I got a ton of my Christmas shopping done. I got home at 1 in the morning and was up at 7 with baby G. He then started his new trick. Let's call it " I started real crawling and pulling myself up on everything". Thanks for being super mobile now and we will be baby gate shopping asap. We also had to lower the crib because G be crazy and was standing and yelling and I was having nightmares that he would just flip out of the crib.

My tree is up it just needs ornamnets, I have my one shelf decorated but I'm still not happy with it, and I just ordered our stockings so now I need stocking holders.

My Christmas cards are already in the mail and I have a full post to come on the Christmas card saga.

The long weekend was still too short and I begged Michael to be a stay at home mom today.

Happy Monday!

My boys watching TV
Turkey butt
I love him and his belly

Our family Thanksgiving picture (for the record that Turkey was made out of Grayson's hand)
I had the best view on Date night. I just love this man!
This is the Santa my Grandma made in 1989 and if you push the fluff ball on his hat it still plays music

He wants to be just like Daddy.
