19 Week Bumpdate

How far along? 19 weeks over halfway there!!!!

Total weight gain: The holidays did me in I’m up 18 ish pounds. I say ish because they weigh you before you pee and with all your clothes on and hello it’s winter I have on 3 shirts, jeans and boots. So who knows how much plus I went right after lunch with a full belly. My doctor didn’t seem too concerned.
Maternity clothes? Yes maternity clothes with some regular tops still mixed in
Stretch marks? No new ones. Using lotion nightly after my shower and in the morning

Sleep: Horrible this week. I woke up several times covered in sweat and just could not get comfortable. I had to start taking a Tylenol before bed just to be able to fall asleep because my back was so bad at the end of the day.
Best moment this week: Christmas!!! Grayson was adorable, and we got some cute things for the twins.
Miss Anything? I officially gave up grocery shopping and that was hard and I shed tears over it. I fell bad putting one more thing on my husband’s plate but I would be sore for the whole rest of the night and most of the next day so it was time.
Movement: Yes just waiting for the outside movement so my boys can feel them.

Food cravings: Oreos pizza chip dip and cheese. Why can’t I crave healthy food?
Anything making you queasy or sick: No smoothies and the smell of lunchmeat is still horrible to me
Gender: We have to very sealed envelopes containing the genders that we will find out with out family’s on the 16th!
Labor Signs: No

Symptoms: I feel very heavy. I fear that a maternity support belt is in my future very soon because I just feel low and have a ton of pressure.
Belly Button in or out? Flat. My belly looks fake
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: HAPPY!
Looking forward to: Christmas festivities!
Grayson: He has started to give the babies a kiss goodnight. He lifts up my shirt and says “let me kiss dem babies mommy” it’s super sweet. He also bought them each their own lovie for Christmas. He was so proud and happy that he got them their first present.

Our sonogram was great. The babies are both doing great and still measuring a little (about 6 days) ahead of what they should be which is not a bad thing. Baby A is about 11 oz and Baby B is around 10oz. I’m thankful that we don’t have to worry about twin to twin transfer because they each have their own placenta so that is a huge relief. Both have strong heartbeats Baby A 145 and Baby B 148. It is my favorite to just sit and watch them plus they are both movers and shakers. The doctor commented that we didn’t seem enthusiastic during the sonogram (this is not my doctor but the specialist where we had to have our 18 week done) and I said I’m just taking it all in doc. It’s still such a miracle to me that I have two babies in there so I think that when I see them I’m still in shock/awe with it all.

Maternity clothes? Yes maternity clothes with some regular tops still mixed in
Stretch marks? No new ones. Using lotion nightly after my shower!

Sleep: Pretty good. Still with my pregnancy pillow I wake up on my back all wrapped up in the pillow so I try to lay on my side as much as possible but these hips don’t lie and they hurt sometimes
Best moment this week: Making cookies with Grayson and I feel like I have for sure popped out these last 2 weeks. Plus we got the windows put in both the kids rooms upstairs and we finished Grayson’s dresser for his room.
Miss Anything? No but I know the end is near on doing a lot of my normal things and I will miss that.
Movement: Little flutters here or there it’s very sporadic.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No smoothies and the smell of lunchmeat is still horrible to me

All About My Big Boy

I feel like lately this has been all about pregnancy. I mean it consumes a ton of our time because there is a lot of prep work that goes into having twins but I don't want to overlook my boy. The one who made me Mama.

He's pretty amazing. He is so smart and funny and a lover. He has to give me a million kisses before bed and when he is not feeling good he has to have his Mommy.

We went on a little shopping trip just the two of us to get some small things from him for Daddy and he loved every second of it. He could not get enough of picking! things! out! for! my! Daddy! I soaked it up too because the magic in a child's eyes at this time of year is amazing. Plus his one request for a gift for daddy was a jingle bell! I panicked that we would not be able to find them but they had an ornament with a single jingle bell and it a snowman that said Dad. Perfect! He carried that ornament through the store so proud.

We went to the Rain Forrest Cafe and he loved it. He liked to look at the animals but did not want to get too close to any that moved. They had a mascot there and he was petrified. I said to my Mom that we are not in any hurry to go to Disney that kid would have a break down.

He is doing good at school. I see some bad habits he gets from there. Like hitting. Ah the 2 year old hit and throw something when they are mad is in full affect at our house. If he hits he goes in time out. If he throws a toy he gets the toy taken away. If he starts to throw a tantrum we walk away. He stops on his own and then comes back to reality where we don't throw ourselves on the ground because Mommy won't let us play with a sharpie.

Food is still a big issue. He eats a very small variety of foods and some days hardly has an appetite. The doctor just keeps telling me he will eat when he is hungry and so we offer and he goes to bed without eating some nights because he won't eat the Peanut butter sandwich I made him and he wants oreo's. It's a struggle for me but we are working through it.

He is such a boy when it comes to running around and imaginative play. Everything is climbing or jumping or building or knocking down. He plays all day long.Trucks, dinosaurs, pirates he is all about it. But this kid would for sure always rather be outside. We have had some nice 50 degree days here and so we have been getting out as much as we can.

Bedtime is our other battle. About a month ago bedtime became an hour long struggle of just one more....kiss, hug, song, book, potty break, blanket, change my shirt, snuggle me one more min. You name it my kid stalls with it. Since being in the big boy bed Michael has taken over bed time and has shaved 20 mins off the hour long time but it is still a hasle. And just when you think your in your bed tucked in for the night BAM! that kid has to pee. I'm hoping this phase passes and fast because it's exhausting. He gets up usually around 3:30-4 to go to the bathroom and since I get up at 5 I just bring him into bed with me and that hour ish that I get to sleep all snuggled up with him I just love it.

He has started to read to us. He has a few books memorized because we read them so much that he can now read them to us.I love when he climbs up on my lap and says "I will read dis book to you mommy" Love it.

A few other cute things

When he asks for something like candy and we say no (because it's 8 in the morning) and I offer him muffins he will say "nefer mind I want nofing"

He tells us he loves us disss much and then puts his hands out as far as he can

He is starting to know feelings the other morning he told me that he was sad because he just wanted his daddy. And then he told me he was so happy going on an adventure to the store with me.

I really do just love this boy so much

Making Christmas Memories

We had a fun Christmas/Busy weekend this weekend.

Friday- I grabbed Grayson from school, got baby donuts and then went and grabbed Lib and B so that they could all go to a movie at the library with Aunt Halli. I picked them (love having the van that they can all fit in!) dropped off some mail at the Post Office and then we headed to pick up Michael and make our way to Aunt Halli's work. We dropped off the kiddos and then headed to get fingers and fries from Ed's ( a local dive bar with the best finger/wing sauce ever) we went home and ate way to much and just relaxed. Grayson spent the night at GiGi's house after the movie so I got some good solid sleep.

Saturday- My Mom clock had be up at 6:30. It seems that I can't sleep past 7 anymore so I just got up and got to work on laundry. I changed all the sheets on the beds and washed all the clothes and put them away! That is a huge thing for me because sometimes we live out of baskets for weeks days before I put them away. Grayson came home and then Michael and then we got to work on building Grayson's dresser for his room. We took a break for dinner and then finished up the frame before calling it a night.

Sunday- I decided to have a fun day with Grayson. We make an Olaf cookie and I forgot to take a picture before we dug into it ha! But this is the pan I used
 Product Details
and I got it at Bon-Ton for $3.00 so it was for sure worth it. But I linked to it on Amazon here

Then we had nap and watched our Bills lose again, just heartbreaking. After dinner we finished the dresser and got all this clothes put away and organized then we decorated our Gingerbread house. I bought this one and it comes already put together which I loved and we just had to decorate.

His favorite part:having Daddy squeeze frosting in his mouth.

We did baths and bedtime and then Michael and I watched the 30 for 30 on ESPN about our Bills and the Four Falls. Ahhh so close but never got here for the big Superbowl win. But the only franchise to go 4 times in a row. Now our city says just one before I die and that is what we are all hoping for. Tim Russert (who was born in Buffalo) said in the film being a Bills fan is a way of life and you can only understand that if your from here and it's true we live for our Bills through it all, even the wide right.

Now we have a busy week coming up. Grayson has his school party, and we have Christmas with my brother on Saturday and our cookie baking on Sunday. Here's hoping my pregnant body keeps going strong just until the New Year!

How being pregnant with Twins is so so different.

When I found out it was twins I didn't think much of my body. I thought oh crap 2 babies and all the things we needed and how would I ever sleep again and oh the diapers and oh twice the babies to smell and smooch and watch grow. You know all that stuff.

Then around week 10-11 I started to pop and someone made a comment that I was already "soooo big" I was slightly offended and just brushed it off. Then at 12 weeks I could not get comfortable sleeping and grocery shopping was knocking the wind out of me. My body felt like it had been through the ringer.

I was so so confused. Why was this happening? I remember moving and grooving with Grayson all the way up until 37-38 weeks. Granted I was slower but my body wasn't achy and I could still grocery shop and clean my house. Now? Not so much

We went back to the doctors on 11/24 and I asked him about the pain I was in and he just laughed at me. I guess that is normal with twin pregnancy's. That being on my feet actively moving longer than 20 mins is not recommended. That lifting anything over 10 pounds is not good. That I will show a ton sooner. That basically twin pregnancies skip some steps and you get pregnancy symptoms sooner.

Who knew? Not me and it kind of makes me sad. So now I have a goal set for myself that I want to be able to do my normal things until week 20. I'm almost 16 weeks so that give me a good month of still grocery shopping, and doing my normal things. However I will not be lifting. I made that mistake of trying to pick up a box of Christmas decorations and felt it in my back so that is done. I do carry Grayson because he is not dead weight he holds onto me so it's not as bad. Plus I think my body is used to that.

The other thing that I never had with my first pregnancy sciatic nerve pain. This time holy moly. So so painful. I was in tears last night over it. I called my doctors office and the nurse said I could use a heating pad on my back for 20 mins every 2 hours on the lowest setting. I did that and it helped a little bit but as soon as the heat was off it came back. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting or standing it's just there. The other thing that they said that I'm going to try tonight when I get home is laying on my back with a ton of pillows under my legs to try and get those babies to move off that nerve.

I guess I was naive, to think that I would breeze through this without any physical changes. But I know that God designed our bodies to do this and that I can. I just have to modify and keep going as long as I can but still listen to my body.

We got a van!!!

Words I didn't think I would ever type. That I drive a mini-van. A soccer mom car if you will.

I loved my Jeep. I knew it would be fine for 2 kids. I was content in keeping it until it was paid off and then getting a different car. I just loved it that much.

Then October 27th we found out we would be having 2 babies and that equals 3 car seats and my wonderful Jeep just didn't cut it anymore.

We did a ton of research. Weighed our options. Looked into a ton of different cars and even bounced around the idea of trying to make my car work.

But then it hit me. I'm alone in the mornings. It is just me that will have to load 3 kids into a car and trying to cram them all into my small (ish) jeep was not something I wanted to battle 3 mornings a week and in the winter.

So I knew where I wanted to go and that was a mini-van. I wanted AWD and that narrowed me down to the Toyota Sienna.

My cousin sells cars so we contacted him and set up an appointment and went up to test drive. We loved it right away.

The room!
The automatic sliding doors!
The captains chairs!
3rd row!

Plus a ton of other things we just knew it was our vehicle that we needed. So we went back in and talked trade and financing and walked out with the car 3 hours later. Just like that I was a mini-van Mama.

And I'm so okay with it. Grayson at first didn't like it he wanted the Jeep back but now he loves the doors the room he has and that he can climb up in the van himself.

As we pulled away from the dealership we laughed because here we are in the next phase of life about to parents to 3 kids and loving every second of it!

We all went up to the Rain Forrest Cafe in Niagara Falls this weekend and my parents, sister and her finance, and the 3 of us all road up and no one was crammed in anywhere.

Now that will only last for a little while because in 32 weeks (give or take) we will have 3 car seats!!!

Here's to joining the mini-van club!
